PHOENIX SQUARE - LEICESTER DIGITAL MEDIA CENTRE - ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT IT?

Phoenix square or as many people spell it... 'Pheonix Square' the new Leicester Digital Media centre is something that we are all getting very excited about here in the digital media and cultural community here in Leicester.
Film and entertainment.. Offices... Workspaces and even apartments.
Located within the new Cultural Quarter of Leicester, Phoenix Square is one of a series of very high profile development projects to redevelop the heart of the city along with its retail peer the Highcross Quarter in the West of the city centre.
The Leicester digital media centre is something that has transformed a truly desolate wasteland into a social and cultural hub for all in our city in addition to those in the creative IT and media sector.
Amplified Leicester @ The Leicester Digital Media Centre
One of the very first groups to make use of the Leicester Digital Media hub is Amplified Leicester.
Amplified Leicester is a city-wide experiment designed to grow the innovation capacity of Leicester by networking key connectors across the city’s disparate and diverse communities in an incentivised participatory project enabled by social media.
Project objectives:
• To develop a transferable model for amplifying a diverse city’s grassroots innovation capacity through connecting diverse communities through key individuals
• To provide practical examples of how collaborative technologies can be exploited in a city context
“A group that thinks in diverse ways will address a problem from many angles.” Charles Leadbeater, The Difference Dividend
Amplified Leicester is managed by the Institute of Creative Technologies, De Montfort University in partnership with the DMU Centre for Social Action and Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre. The project is commissioned and supported by NESTA, an independent body with a mission to make the UK more innovative.
